I started my career in the interior design industry, selling luxury fabrics, furniture, and lighting to designers across Chicago, Orange County, San Diego, and Palm Springs. Along the way I began collecting the discontinued fabrics from the showroom floor and taught myself to sew. Soon I was making pillows and home goods to sell at local markets around Orange County. From a sewing table that doubled as my TV console in a 300 square foot apartment, to a tiny station carved out of a mudroom, to a shop within a shop, I now have my own workshop where I get to create beauty and joy every day. Today I work with interior designers, home stores, and design lovers on custom pillows and cushions made for each individual space. And when I needed a dress for an event and couldn't find the right one, I made my own. That dress became the Dolly Dress, now Syd Saturday's signature piece, and my excuse to travel the world collecting fabric and trim. I have a deep love for beauty and craft. Getting to make things that people wear and live with in their homes is a dream.
